The Wine Stash started in the spring of 2008 when two brothers met their long time friend in Napa Valley for a relaxing wine country weekend. Over trips to vineyards, rounds of golf, amazing dinners and plenty of wine, we discussed our mutual enjoyment of wine and potential opportunities in the industry. As the weekend came to a close and we prepared to return home, we came away with an idea to start a collection of California’s finest wines. Over the following months we put together an impressive collection of wines, which we would playfully refer to as our “wine stash”.
Then it occurred to us…why not make our own wine? So we set out acquiring high quality grapes from across Napa and were on the path to being winemakers. And like so many would be before us, we drifted further from everyday life in pursuit of a common passion – to simply produce great wine made from high quality California grapes that we would be proud to share with friends and family. Along the way we met others who shared our passion and helped to shape our new venture: a couple in Rutherford who planted a few acres of their favorite Rhone varietals and a single row of a little known grape called Picpoul de Pinet. A retired gentleman who farmed an acre of Clone 6 Cab in his backyard. An entrepreneurial family that moved to the outskirts of town to build a winery. Now we are amazed to find ourselves in this new place, holding a bottle of our own wine.
